The Nature of Zooey Deschanel - Articles

Blossoming

At this garden party, the new Hollywood crowd (some of them known stars, some about to be) mix it up in summer's prettiest evening clothes.

Unlike her fashion obsessed teen in last year's Mumford, Deschanel, 19, is no Hollywood trendoid: She'd rather hit a revival house for a Truffaut film than see the latest teen-scream flick. "This dress reminded me in a modern way of Rita Hayworth," says Deschanel, "exotic, beautiful, mysterious, but vibrant at the same time." Spoken like the daughter of a renowned cinematographer that she is. Next: a prominent role in Cameron Crowe's first film after Jerry Maguire, an as-yet-untitled "epic of rock."
