The Nature of Zooey Deschanel - Articles

Interview
Cinderellas and Cinderfellas

On the way to Grandma's house with a basket full of goodies, Little Red Riding Hood not only faced the Big Bad Wolf - she also got herself an agent and a manager. Zooey Deschanel, who at sixteen was playing the scarlet-hooded damsel in an L.A. stage production, was soon after plucked by director Lawrence Kasdan to make her feature debut in last year's Mumford, which she followed with a plum part in Cameron Crowe's upcoming tribute to '70s rock. Although, to her dismay, she cannot help but run into carnivorous rogues and man-eating starlets in Hollywood, the now nineteen-year-old actress has few anxieties when it comes to her work. "Part of being an actor is having no fear, or at least having a lot of courage," says the raven-haired beauty, daughter of cinematographer Caleb. "My fear is playing the same part over and over again." And so Zooey, carrying a heart full of integrity, wanders through Tinseltown Forest in search of her next original part.
