all of the above were mastered VERY badly. overly bassy. the JPS, aside from a means of meeting the great man himself, was a way of air-testing things which would eventually appear on ‘divers’ – hence ‘wolf’ and ‘a.b.m.’ are work-in-progress mixes, not so far removed from the final versions. i eventually sat in on the broadcast. if anyone wants to hear the on-air dialogue between myself and john (or indeed the interview for ‘mixing it’ in 2006) please contact me directly.

these are the earliest FortDax recordings that i’m willing to share. all of this was built on a 4-track portastudio in the bedroom of an old house in coventry.

horizon seven-seven – took less time than anything else i’ve ever done. does it show?
a beverley mythic (2004 version) – a softer version without the irish whistle that geoff hated. closer to the peel session version than the ‘divers’ version.
this release was originally intended to have been a 7” vinyl single in 2004. sadly, a minor curse (subsequently revoked) meant that we weren’t able to do things in the manner we intended, although promo white-label copies DO exist. further bad karma befell us when we actually lost a clutch of these records somewhere in the labyrinth of the british postal system. if you have one, please get in touch. if you ever try and put it on ebay...we’ll be forced to invoke the dark powers who caused all the damned problems in the first place...
