Well, for a subtitled movie from China, it really is quite effective! Despite action movies losing a lot of punch having subtitles, it seemss as though director Ang Lee has created a universally recognized storyline that we can all identify with. While it does get a little muddled in the plot, the action never really lets up. Even more amazing was discovering that the treetop fight scenes along with many others were not digital effects but rather actors on wires. Surreal yet in your face. One of the better movies of 2K! Chow Yun-Fat, Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang do impressive jobs in both acting and carrying out amazing moves in the trees.
