ALMOST FAMOUS

Released: September 15, 2000

Cameron Crowe strikes again with a personal, almost autobiographical story that may not appeal to the mass audience that "Jerry Maquire" did but is equally wonderful, if not more so. Great cast, mainly made up of unknowns... "Almost Famous" is a wonderful movie, as are any of the Cameron Crowe flicks. He wrote "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", directed "Say Anything", "Singles", "Jerry Maguire" and the upcoming "Vanilla Sky". I preferred "Almost Famous" to the other vinyl/music loving themed flick "High Fidelity". As a first time viewer you should watch the theatrical version rather than the 140 minute bootleg version on the new DVD. That "Almost Famous" is based on Crowe's real life induction into writing for Rolling Stone magazine makes it all the more special.
