DJ Qualls, who more or less burst onto the movie scene with 2000's "Road Trip" is given his first starring roll in this occasionaly funny and often mean-spirited "comedy" about a high school senior branded uncool in the ninth grade gets himself expelled so he changes his image to cool kid at the town's other high school. Qualls is OK but surely not star material yet. Support from Zooey Deschanel, Eliza Dushku, Eddie Griffin, Lyle Lovett makes it fun to watch but otherwise it's a last resort rental on cheap night, if such a thing exists at your video store.
