SPARTAN

Released: March 12, 2004

Director David Mamet follows up his 2001 flick "Heist" with another great yarn, this time about a secret agent, played by the great Val Kilmer, assigned the task of rescuing the kidnapped daughter (Kristen Bell) of the president, only to discover along the way a larger, more sinister plot with origins within the White House itself. Directed and paced to keep us only ahead of the plot as required to keep us guessing. The writing, by Mamet, is smart and respects its audience. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. isn't really promoting this film much and that's a shame. This is a good movie few people will end up seeing...
