Brazilian director Bruno Barreto, who gave us the 1996 Dennis Hopper flick "Carried Away", returns with a light and bubbly story about a young woman whose dream it is to be an A class stewardess. The radiant Gwyneth Paltrow plays the dreamer yearning to fly the friendly international skies. While Paltrow has reportedly dissed the film during production, mockingly referring it to "View From My Ass", it can be said that this is a light film with no asperations for Oscars. Shot in early 2001 and shelved for two years due to 9/11, a comedy about commercial airlines was apparently risky so Miramax dropped a funny Mike Myers bit about how to stop a terrorist from hijacking the plane. Also starring Christina Applegate, Mark Ruffalo, Candice Bergen, Kelly Preston and Rob Lowe. Watch for a brief cameo from George Kennedy, vet of airplane disaster flick "Airport" (1970). Not very memorable but Paltrow was really good despite her feelings about the overall film.
