Charles Dutton directs this fictional story inspired by North America's most famous female boxing promoter, Jackie Kallen. Meg Ryan plays Kallen, a tough as nails woman who defies the boy's club mentality of the boxing world.. This film sat on the shelf for quite a while and then Ryan's newer film "In The Cut" was released in the meantime. Finally released, "Against The Ropes" is not horrible, just a tad bit too predictable. Ryan is good though, as is Omar Epps as the boxer...
