UNDERCOVER BROTHER

Released: May 31, 2002

A short running time benefits this comedy that tells of how "The Man" tries to derail a black candidate's (Billy Dee Williams) presidential campaign and how Undercover Brother (Eddie Griffin) and his fellow secret agents come to the rescue. The guts of this story centers around the spoofing of the traditional black/white stereotypes and for the most part, it is entertaining. The short running time is a blessing though because "Undercover Brother" is a one note laugh-fest that DOES get tiring after a while. On the other hand, it lets Griffin get the spotlight, which is a good thing. It also gives the audience a chance to see Denise Richards in a skin tight vinyl outfit, which is definitely a good thing. Chris Kattan from "Saturday Night Live" plays an evil guy very well and the rest of the cast is fun to watch here, including Aunjanue Ellis, David Chappelle and Neil Patrick Harris (in his second movie with Denise Richards since 1997's "Starship Troopers").
