HUMAN NATURE

Released: April 12, 2002

French director Michel Gondry made 2004's decent Jim Carrey vehicle "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" but before that he made the quirky "Human Nature", also based on a story written by Charlie Kaufman ("Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation"). "Human Nature" is a very unique movie, beautifully shot and executed. Patricia Arquette stars along with Rhys Ifans, Tim Robbins, Hilary Duff (!), Peter Dinklage, Robert Forster, Rosie Perez and Mary Kay Place. "Human Nature" follows the ups and downs of an obsessive scientist, a female naturalist, and the man they discover, born and raised in the wild. It's not a typical movie but it's interesting and unique, which is rare among films these days. The opening credit scene alone is worth seeing.
