AMERICAN WEDDING

Released: August 1, 2003

The inevitable third part in what I hope is just a trilogy of the "American Pie" movies. Centering on the marriage of characters played by pie-humper Jason Biggs and band geek Alyson Hannigan, this was a funny and worthy sequel. New cast include Fred Willard (underused, but a nice addition) and cute blonde January Jones. Most of the cast from the first two movies return, including Stifler's Mom (Jennifer Coolidge), Seann William Scott, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Thomas Ian Nicholas though some are conspicously absent. Where are Mena Suvari, Chris Klein, Natasha Lyonne, Tara Reid and Shannon Elizabeth? Not even Chris Owen reprises his Shermanator role. Even the two MILF guys are in this third flick. Overall, "American Wedding" is a fun story that is sure to please fans of the first two movies. At some points I felt the mean spirited take on the Stifler character was a tad too harsh but luckily the creator/writer Adam Herz is on duty here to ensure the characters we like so much stick close to the mold struck in the first two movies.
