HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN

Released: June 4, 2004

Leave it to Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón to come up with an entertaining "Harry Potter" film. Not only did he make the very good 1995 movie "A Little Princess" (a movie for kids and adults that entertains without condescending to either) he also directed 2001's dark, adult road trip film "Y Tu Mamá También". He was a great choice for the third "Potter" film, the best yet in the ongoing series of movies based on J.K. Rowling's extremely successful novels. The three main actors are back including the best of the current (mainly British) actors around - including Gary Oldman, Julie Walters, David Thewlis, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson, Julie Christie and Timothy Spall. It also looks great too, featuring the best special effects yet in a "Potter" movie. Fun to watch for both young and old alike though the very young might be better off not watching this chapter of the series.
