X2: X-MEN UNITED

Released: May 2, 2003

The plot is immaterial and director Bryan Singer knows this. Instead of confusing the low attention span fan base, he builds his movie out of cool scenes. You can leave for a bathroom break and come back 15 minutes later and still be "caught up" on the story. However, for a sequel and a mindless ride, "X2" succeeds at entertaining for a couple hours. But try remember scenes afterwards... It's a pretty thin story. The whole cast from the first "X-Men" is back and several new characters are introduced. Alan Cumming plays Nightscrawler and Kelly Hu plays Yuriko Oyama. Highlights? Rebecca Romijn-Stamos' breasts should get separate billing. If this is all $155 million will buy these days, then it just proves a movie without a well-written story cannot be saved by all the fancy CGI effects in the world.
