Richard Gere and Diane Lane star in director Adrian Lyne's latest controversial flick "Unfaithful". Gere and Lane play a couple living in the New York city suburbs whose marriage goes dangerously awry when the Lane character indulges in an adulterous fling. A long build up leads us to an ending that is disappointing because Lyne takes the easy way out rather than wrapping things up. I know real life isn't wrapped up so efficiently as I'm desiring from a film like this but to invest over two hours and be given a weak ending just invalidated the whole film for me. Nice photography and music but otherwise only for fans of the lead players and the director.
