DOWN TO YOU

Released: January 21, 2000

You can see how director Kris Isacsson really wanted to make a "When Harry Met Sally" for the teen set with this flick. But try as he might, despite two fine leads (Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Julia Stiles), he can't seem to find a soul in his movie at all. A young man wins and loses the first serious love of his life is the essential plot teaser. While his heart was in the right place, Isacsson never gives us characters that really show much diemension. Consider how in "She's All That" we see Prinze, Jr. showing he has serious potential to be a strong leading man and Julia Stiles giving it her all in "10 Things I Hate About You" - and then witness how "Down To You" is really down in the poo. Nice soundtrack however...
