A cab driver (Jamie Foxx) finds himself the hostage of an engaging contract killer (Tom Cruise) as he makes his rounds from hit to hit during one night in Los Angeles. He must find a way to save both himself and one last victim. Both Cruise (as the bad guy) and Foxx are great here. Michael Mann directs with his usual flair for Los Angeles storytelling. While not quite as memorable as Mann's "Heat", "The Insider" or "The Last Of The Mohicans", it is a Michael Mann film and that means it'll be better than pretty much everthing else at the multiplex.
