I generally try to review movies here from 2000 onwards as trying to log EVERY movie I've seen would take far too long. But - here's a movie from 1996 that's worth going back for. From John Sayles, one of my favorite director's, comes this fine film. When the skeleton of his murdered predecessor is found, Sheriff Sam Deeds (Chris Cooper) unearths many other long-buried secrets in his Texas border town. This is Cooper's movie but he has strong co-stars - including Matthew McConaughey, Kris Kristofferson, Elizabeth Peņa among many others. Rent this because it's directors like Sayles, true artists, who need the support the most.
