LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU, THE

Released: December 25, 2004

Wes Anderson returns with a good but not very good film as a followup to 2001's "The Royal Tenenbaums". This is Anderson's third film with Bill Murray, who plays an oceanographer named Steve Zissou who rallies a crew that includes his estranged wife (Angelica Huston), a journalist (Cate Blanchett), and a man who may or may not be his son (Owen Wilson) to exact revenge on a mythical shark that killed his partner. This is, perhaps, Anderson's most ambitious film, with explosions, gun fights and extensive computer graphics. But - a little of his earlier cohesive writing style has suffered. The results are still entertaining, just not as fulfilling as his earlier films. The cast is great, including Murray and the other listed above. Also starring Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Michael Gambon and Seymour Cassel.
