CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, THE

Released: June 11, 2004

A large-budget sequel to 1999's "Pitch Black" from the same director - David Twohy. Taken in a totally different direction than what I would have expected from a sequel to the very good first film, "Chronicles" is both entertaining and fun. Vin Diesel returns as Riddick, the convict turned hero. The action picks up several years after the first film as Riddick meets up with "Jack" the girl-pretending-to-be-a-boy from "PItch Black". It's a bigger budget and Universal probably stuck their mitts into the project more than they should have but it still resulted in a good movie and enjoyable sequel. Already an animated Riddick movie exists and a third live action film beckons. Diesel also produced this chapter of the series.
