PUNCH

Released: February 7, 2003

Summed up briefly, a teenage girl is WAY too close to her divorced father. She even goes to extent of beating up her father's latest potential girlfriend. When the date's topless boxer sister finds out, she and the daughter go to war. How's THAT for a surefire box office concept? Once you get passed the creepy subject matter (suggested father-daughter intimacy) then you must also get passed the fact that director Guy Bennett uses his own real life daughter Sonja Bennett as the teenage Ariel in the film, where he is compelled to shoot scenes of his daughter nude including inexplicable prolonged spread beaver shots. This is a Canadian film and because it has such a bold concept, I give it 5 Fedge stars. Overall, this is entertaining if your feeling totally undemanding of high quality cinema.
