LADDER 49

Not quite as emotionally impacting as Ron Howard's 1991 firemen movie "Backdraft", it would be a lie to say that "Ladder 49" didn't tug at my tear ducts a tad. The story is less memorable than "Backdraft" though, making it nice eye candy as a rental to be forgotten immediately after. John Travolta does well, even in a limited role. Others like Joaquin Phoenix (who gets first billed here) and Robert Patrick fare well as firemen portrayed as saintly gods in a post 911 USA.
