HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG Released: December 19, 2003 First time director Vadim Perelman gives us a story about an Iranian immigrant and his wife (Ben Kingsley and Shohreh Aghdashloo) who buy a house at an auction, unwittingly putting himself and his family in the middle of a legal tussle with the house's former owner (Jennifer Connelly). What begins as a legal struggle turns into a personal confrontation, with tragic results. A lesser movie would paint one of the players as "the bad guy" but Perelman successfully creates a movie where the audience is allowed to decide for themselves. One of 2003's best films. 126 Minutes Dreamworks |
