BLOOD WORK

Released: August 9, 2002

It's the new Clint Eastwood movie. I'll go see anything the guy does. At 72, he's still producing good movies, which is impressive as it is considering how much crap comes out from so-called younger hot shot directors. Retired FBI director Terry McCaleb (Eastwood), who has recently had a heart transplant, is hired by Graciela Rivers (Wanda De Jesus), to investigate the death of her sister, Gloria, who happens to have given McCaleb his heart. On the case, he soon deducts that the killer, who staged the murder to look like a random robbery, may actually be a serial killer Terry was trailing for years in the FBI. This is a murder mystery with a personal motivation to solve the crime. Like Al Pacino in "Insomnia" (2002), Eastwood gives a solid performance and directs the movie with the confidence only a veteran filmmaker can. If you like Eastwood or a good crime drama, this is for you.
