ADAPTATION

Released: December 6, 2002

Spike Jonze follows up his original 1999 flick "Being John Malkovich" with another original and ambitious production while Nicolas Cage takes on a duel role of twin brother screenwriters. Cage also reminds us that every now and then he can take on roles and movies that don't suck. This is his first genuinely very good movie since "City Of Angels" (1998). Rather than explain the workings of how this movie pits the brothers at each other in the race to finish a screenplay, it's just best you go see it. The movie literally picks up during the production of "Malkovich" with Cage playing the real life writer of the movie Charles Kaufman. It then takes off on a wild rollercoaster ride. Joining Cage on the ride are Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper ("American Beauty") and a vast array of great actors. It's another original work from Jonze, a director with real vision in an industry full of mediocrity.
