LOVE ACTUALLY

Released: November 7, 2003

Richard Curtis, writer of such hits as "Four Weddings And A Funeral", "Notting Hill" and "Bridget Jones's Diary" sits in the director's chair for this overwelming multi-couple love story. It stars Hugh Grant as the new British Prime Minister, something I had a bit of trouble getting passed. I had trouble believing Grant as a mobster in "Mickey Blue Eyes" (also written by Curtis). The story is effectively emotionally manipulating but the sheer size of the cast leaves you struggling to keep track of each one's fallings in and or out of love. A shorter edit and fewer cast might have made this movie much better film. But, the cast is great - Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Laura Linney, Alan Rickman, Billy Bob Thornton, Rowan Atkinson, Elisha Cuthbert, January Jones, Shannon Elizabeth and Denise Richards - among MANY others.
