GEORGE WASHINGTON

Released: September 9, 2000

Director David Gordon Green would later give us the fine film "All The Real Girls" with Zooey Deschanel but in 2000 he burst onto the scene by writing, directing and producing "George Washington" in 2000. This is the story of delicately told and deceptively simple story of a group of children in a depressed small town who band together to cover up a tragic mistake. I will not give away the tragedy but imagine a sad little town where there's nothing to do in a sweltering hot summer. The reaction of the kids to the situation is both perceptive and scary. Worth watching for the chance to see the first film by Green as he's a very good director.
