RUNAWAY JURY

Released: October 17, 2003

When you get a cast like this, it's hard to go wrong. At the very least you know the performances will be decent. A juror on the inside (John Cusack), and a woman on the outside (Rachel Weisz) manipulate a court trial involving a major gun manufacturer. Adapted from a John Grisham novel and directed by Gary Fleder ("Don't Say A Word"), this is a nice little courtroom drama that comes together thanks to the leads that are consumate pros. Included with Cusack and Weisz are Dustin Hoffman (whom Weisz acted with in "Confidence" earlier in 2003), Gene Hackman, Bruce Davison, Bruce McGill, Jeremy Piven and Jennifer Beals. Originally written to tackle the tobacco empire and then revamped to focus on the gun issue, "Runaway Jury" was both fun and entertaining. See it if only for the great cast but know that you're in for a cool ride leading up to a satisfying conclusion...
