MAJESTIC, THE

Released: December 21, 2001

I suppose director Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile") had to stumble at some point. And too bad for Jim Carrey as this must be his biggest bomb financially, worse than revenue from "The Cable Guy" even. So, I sat through it... Set in 1951, a blacklisted Hollywood writer (Carrey) gets into a car accident, loses his memory and settles down in a small town where he is mistaken for a long, lost son. I yawned and yawned thoughout the two and a half hours. If you want a GOOD movie about this subject without the sentimental blathering, check out "Guilty by Suspicion" (1991) starring Robert De Niro.
