ENEMY AT THE GATES Released: March 16, 2001 Is it a war movie or a romance? Well, if it were one or the other then we'd have an OK movie. However, we are forced to deal with both options INCLUDING a fictional love triangle situation with main leads Jude Law, Joseph Feinnes and Rachel Weisz. Along for the ride are Ed Harris and Bob Hoskins. For a WW2 movie about snipers in the German invasion of Russia, it looks incredible. The attention to the look and textures of the time and places is impressive and we can thank director Jean-Jacques Annaud for that. His "Seven Years In Tibet" flick also looked great. Worth renting but not worth $11 at the overpriced multiplex. 133 Minutes Paramount |
