TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, THE

Released: October 17, 2003

Music video director Marcus Nispel makes his feature debut with a remake of the 1974 Tobe Hooper original. Does it suck? Certainly not as bad as Roger Ebert seems to think. It has a grime and sleaze atmosphere that fills your mind and when the chainsaw roars you feel sickly. Nispel goes for the gore rather than the gags and that's my only complaint - it's just so damn relentlessly dark. But, it's based on a real story so it SHOULD be serious and dark. The gore is very explicit and this is not a film for kids. Horror fans will find this one interesting, even if they dislike it...
