HEAVEN

Released: October 4, 2002

A woman (Cate Blanchett) takes the law into her own hands after police ignore her pleas to arrest the man responsible for her husband's death, and finds herself not only under arrest for murder but falling in love with an officer (Giovanni Ribisi). The essense of the story is, can an unintentional terrorist who kills four innocent people including two kids be someone a character falls in love with? And indeed, can an audience feel ANYTHING for such a murderous person? This film, directed by "Run Lola Run" and "The Princess And The Warrior" autuer Tom Tykwer, asks these questions. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it. After watching both Blanchett and Ribisi act together again after Sam Raimi's "The Gift", I can safely say that the reteaming works well here. The story is compelling because I haven't seen anything like it before. If you enjoyed Tom Tykwer's other movies, be sure to check out "Heaven".
