CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE

Released: June 27, 2003

From music video dirctor McG, this sequel to the 2000 cinematic update on the 70s TV series is pure T&A spectacle and playful movie fun. The plot is immaterial as it's really the fight scenes that bridge this film together into anything remotely like a storyline. But hey, it's fun and it provides perfect escapism. Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Berrymore return to this needless but undoubtedly perfect "summer fluff movie". Bernie Mac replaces Bill Murray as Bosley's black brother Jimmy. Robert Patrick joins the cast this time as does Demi Moore (still a babe), John Cleese and Matt LeBlanc. Also returning is Crispin Glover returns as the same bad guy from part 1 with a lot of cool CG-enhanced karate moves. Did this movie need to be made? No. But it was a mindless ride and it was fun to see parodies of CSI and Cape Fear (the 1991 Scorsese version). But what of the director, McG? What kind of name is that? Sounds like a Goat burger from McDonald's! His "real" name is Joseph McGinty Nichol, far preferable to McG. Save your $$$ for a rental when you don't mind unchallenging fluff...
