Director Jane Campion and actress Meg Ryan dirty up their respective images with this noir-ish flick. Is it a romance? Or is it a murder mystery? Meg looks bored throughout - rather than fascinated by her new catch, played by Mark Ruffalo. Aside from the graphic blow job scene on the unrated DVD, there's not much to say about this slow moving and frankly "In The Bedroom" type attempt at sleaze with class. Jennifer Jason Leigh also appears.
