SHANGHAI NOON

Released: May 26, 2000

Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson (from "Armageddon") make a good on screen pairing, like a Mel Gibson-Danny Glover chemistry. The basic plot is Jackie Chan plays a Chinese man who travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. After teaming up with a train robber (Wilson), the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss. Lucy Liu also stars as the beautiful princess. This was a fun movie to watch and proves yet again that Chan still has "it". If it weren't for "M:I-2", "Shangai Noon" would have topped the box office on opening weekend but coming only a million or so shy of the Tom Cruise movie, it demonstrates just how powerful Jackie Chan still is in Hollywood. You leave the theatre feeling happy, even if the blooper reel at the credits was kinda low in actual funny bloopers.
