RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Released: March 31, 2000

Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones star in this movie about an attorney (played by Lee) defending an officer (Jackson) on trial for ordering his troops to fire on civilians after they stormed a U.S. embassy in third world Yemen. Aside from some great battle sequences, this suffers from a wannabe "A Few Good Men" type courtroom ending that is rather crappy stuff from so-called great director William Friedkin, whose last passable movie was "To Live And Die In L.A." in 1985. Although Russell Crowe was the breakout star in "L.A. Confidential", the other cop in that movie, Guy Pearce, plays up a good lawyer in "Rules Of engagement".
