ZOOLANDER

Released: September 28, 2001

From director Ben Stiller comes a wacky comedy about a clueless fashion model nearing the end of his career who is brainwashed to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Sounds funny, right? Tell the Malaysian Prime Minister and his country's people that! That obviously real (and inappropriate PC-wise) dig at a foreign country aside, "Zoolander" is a light as air ride into a universe where someone who looks like Ben Stiller can be a number 1 male fashion model. It's not a full scale laugh riot but it is pretty funny however. Ben Stiller is Zoolander, the fashion model that makes Fabio look like some kind of rocket scientist. The cast is made up of Stiller's co-star in "The Royal Tenenbaums" Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor, Will Ferrell, Jon Voight, Ben's Dad Jerry (from TV's "Seinfeld") and Milla Jovovich with super cameos from David Duchovny, David Bowie, Andy Dick, Fabio, Cuba Gooding Jr., Billy Zane and a long list of other notables. Stiller's third movie as director (with "Reality Bites" in 1994 and "The Cable Guy" with Jim Carrey in 1996) is both entertaining and impressive with all the wonderful costumes and sets used throughout.
